We are an active network of California hemp advocates. We are California hemp users, workers, growers, entrepreneurs, and voters.
We believe that hemp is a highly beneficial safe and natural plant. We advocate for advancing hemp policy, jobs, business, farming, products, and market development in California.
Our network is focused of creating political will and engaged citizenship. We work for good public policy that advances the benefits and opportunities of hemp for all Californians.
Our Policy Framework:
1. Hemp is a highly beneficial, safe, and natural plant. It should be regulated like cotton, wheat, carrots, potatoes, and other safe, natural agricultural products.
2. Hemp is not marijuana. Hemp should be defined by policy as a cannabis plant that has a 1% or less level of THC, (not .03 %). Hemp has no practical intoxicating or unsafe qualities. This is based on science and hundreds of years of human use in America. Hemp should not be treated or regulated like marijuana.
3. Hemp should be taxed and regulated in the same way as cotton, wheat, carrots, potatoes, and other safe, natural agricultural products. Famers, processers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers should not be burdened by special taxes or regulations that do not apply to other safe, natural agricultural products. Any tax or regulation of hemp in California should be minimal.
4. California has the potential to be the largest hemp growing, manufacturing and jobs producing state in America. Hemp creates good green jobs and sustainable economic growth for our communities and the state. Hemp policy in California should increase, not restrict, its benefits and opportunities for all Californians.
The California Hemp Advocates Network is non-partisan.
We work to have our members and thousands of like-minded Californians communicate and develop relationships with our state, county and city policy makers.
Using both traditional and new media, we work to reach millions of Californians with our policy messaging.
We encourage voting and keep report cards on politician's voting records.
During elections, on a non-partisan basis, we will endorse local and state candidates and recommend voting out office those with voting records that go against our policy framework.
